Stylish Seasonal Getaways for Non Spring Breakers

Here at In-Room HQ in New York state, it feels like we just lived through three winters in a row. After this extended freeze, we’re in dire need of a sunny getaway (Even if you’re lucky enough to reside in warmer climates, we’re guessing you wouldn’t be opposed to a Spring weekend trip!). There’s just one problem: our hard-partying Spring Breaker days are behind us. We’re after a slightly more sophisticated adventure, where we can relax, explore, shop--maybe even learn something new!

Here are our staff picks for stylish Spring getaways far from the madding crowds; not only is there plenty to enjoy outside, we hear the in-room programs are top notch as well (spoiler alert: we service them all!).

If you’re looking for: Cultural and culinary delights in the city
Try: Le Germain Toronto Maple Leaf Square

Le Germain Toronto

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s Entertainment District, culinary delights and cultural thrills are only a short stroll away. Dine at Momofuku, catch a concert or game at the Air Canada Centre, or visit Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, featuring North America’s largest underwater viewing tunnel (where else in Canada can you almost swim with the sharks?). Head back to the hotel for a delicious cocktail, a delicious minibar treat and be sure to make time for sleeping in as the beds are extra cozy!

If you’re looking for: The Florida of your daydreams
Try: The Epicurean, Tampa Bay, Florida

This well curated Autograph Collection property focuses on incredible experiences so that connoisseurs of life can celebrate all of the flavors that it has to offer. This boutique hotel, located in South Tampa’s SoHo district, offers cooking masterclasses with top national and local talent, as well as upscale shopping within biking distance (the hotel offers complimentary cruisers to explore the city). The Epicurean team actively supports their community through their corporate charity, Feeding Tampa Bay, so make sure to check out their guest programs so you can help give back!

If you’re looking for: Shopping, swimming, spa, and steaks in Chi-Town
Try: Intercontinental Chicago Magnificent Mile

Intercontinental Chicago

Spring is a perfect time to visit Chicago. The windy city softens to become balmy and breezy, with gorgeous trees blossoming along the lakefront. Shop ‘til you drop along the Magnificent Mile, take a lakefront cruise from Navy Pier, or just stick around to loll in the hotel’s truly stunning indoor pool, one of the largest in the country. You can even set up a session with one of the spa and fitness center’s certified trainers. Afterward, dine at one of Bon Appetit Magazine’s recommended restaurants!

If you’re looking for: Mountain views and Malibu cool
Try: Calamigos Guest Ranch and Beach Club in Malibu, California

Calamigos Guest Ranch

The mountains are calling, and you must go! The Santa Monica mountains, to be exact. Calamigos Guest Ranch offers quintessentially Californian rustic luxury. Their cottages and bungalows overlook Malibu from the hills above. The exclusive beach club, private resort pools and on-site dining ensure you can relax on your terms and timeline, while peppering in a few of the many adventures they curate, like wine tastings in the vineyards, organic pizza-making classes, horseback riding, or paddle boarding tours.

If you’re looking for: A new (historic) West Coast destination to explore
Try: Hyatt Regency Sacramento

Thanks to the breakout film Lady Bird, Sacramento is having a moment, and Hyatt Regency Sacramento is the ideal spot to bask in it. This thoroughly modern hotel is situated directly across from the state capitol building, surrounded by dining, shopping, and the charming sights and historic landmarks of nearby Old Sacramento. Whether you choose to re-enact the film as you visit its filming locations like grabbing ice cream at Gunther’s or just stick close to the hotel for cabana and spa time, this is an underrated Golden State gem.

If you’re looking for: Secluded suntanning and spa days
Try: Fairmont Southampton Bermuda

Fairmont Southampton Bermuda

Looking for a place with all of the tropical sun but none of the crowds? This family-friendly luxury resort delivers in a serious way. From the award winning Turtle Hill Golf Club par-3 course to the 31,000 square foot Willow Stream Spa (while the spa is adults only, the kids can enjoy safe and fun daily activities and arcade games at the staffed Explorers Camp while you’re pampered). Or head to one of the chaise lounges on the beach to splash, snorkel, and snooze the afternoon away.
